We have to really engage even more in the war on drugs in this state. We really are a main artery for the transport of drugs, not just in Ohio, but through Ohio to other places. We've got to do more to combat all of that.

From the devastation in the Portsmouth, Ohio community, families personally impacted by the consequences of substance abuse have found a collective voice to issue a public outcry and gain solace in their community. Motivated by losses felt by families in Portsmouth, Ohio, SOLACE seeks to end the crisis of substance abuse, specifically prescription drug and opiate addiction in all Ohio communities by providing support to individuals and families affected by addiction, advocating for policy changes that can change environmental conditions that encourage drug use and mobilizing communities to affect their own change.

The Ohio SOLACE Network has been organized:
  • To develop support groups for individuals and families grieving a loved one who died as a result of addiction.
  • To promote public awareness about addiction and recovery from addiction and eliminate the stigma surrounding the issue.
  • To develop recovery support through collaboration with the recovery community and communities at large.
  • To provide prevention services, especially to children and adolescents.
