Drug-Free Action Alliance is now accepting nominations for its Enrique Camarena Award |
Back Link |
Drug-Free Action Alliance established the Enrique Camarena Award in 1993 to recognize individuals who do an outstanding job in the field of alcohol, tobacco and drug prevention. Enrique Camarena gave his life as a Drug Enforcement Administration Agent in an effort to limit the supply of drugs illegally entering the country. His family and friends wore red ribbons to his memorial service in 1985 and thus started the National Red Ribbon Celebration that is now held every October 23- 31. The red ribbon symbolizes a commitment to healthy drug-free lifestyles, no use of illegal drugs and no illegal use of legal drugs.
Everyone is encouraged to nominate an individual who goes above and beyond in prevention activities and exemplifies the concept that one person can make a difference.
Please submit your nomination by email to contact@DrugFreeActionAlliance.org, or fax to 614-540-9990 or mail to Drug-Free Action Alliance at 6185 Huntley Road, Suite P, Columbus, OH 43229. Nominations need to be received by November 30, 2009. Complete the Nomination form and provide a brief statement about what makes the nominee an ideal candidate for this award. |
