Red Ribbon Celebration

Drug-Free Action Alliance is the state organizer of the Red Ribbon Week. The week, which has become part of a year-long celebration, is a time set aside annually from October 23-31 to increase awareness about the negative effects of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and to promote safe and drug free environments for everyone.

Red Ribbon was established as a national awareness campaign in 1988 after the death of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena. The celebration reaches more than 300,000 Ohioans every year, with the primary target being youth in elementary and secondary schools.

This year's theme is "Dream it. Be it. Drug-Free."
